Layout 7: April "Spring Greens" scrapbook challenge

One of the things I love about scrapbooking is that you can turn a mediocre photo of a lovely event into something special. The theme I set for April in my monthly scrapbook challenge is "Spring Greens", and the photo I've chosen for my layout is a good example of this - a lovely memory, but the photo is definitely not going to win any photography prizes!  Hopefully the layout conveys some of the specialness of the event.

What I used:
Papers: twelveby12 Color Textures "Garden Green" by Jennifer O'Meara, Papermania 12x12 from an old stack (can't remember the name), Papermania Easter 8x8 paper pack, white vellum
Embellishments: Heidi Swapp Silhouette Images "Shapes Lime" acetate die cuts, Karen Foster Designs Gel Slides & Trim "Flower Set", Papermania Marie Curie daffodil acetate stickers, Papermania brad kit (circle punch and clear dome stickers), lime green rik-rak, Doodlebug Simply Sweet rub-on mini alphabet, lime green mini brads
Other: Whispers permanent brush marker

Crafting notes:

  • The domed 'brads' in the corners of the yellow paper are made using circles cut from the "Garden Green" backing paper, Marie Curie acetate stickers and dome stickers.
  • The date is made by applying rub-ons directly to an acetate die cut, with white vellum behind to make it stand out more.  I used the same idea for the journalling to match.

    • The yellow paper is a bit thin, so I matted it with white card to stop the green backing paper showing through.
